VENTURE NEWS & TIPS: VC Funds Plunge & Partying

According to the National Venture Capital Association venture capital funds raised just $1.6 billion in the third quarter. This is down 82 percent from a year ago and 21 percent from last quarter. This figure is helped by $1 billion from one firm Khosla Ventures. 

On a lighter note in the category of VCs are lemmings - if you do get funding try not to spend it on partying and drugs like John P. Rogers who managed to win and blow (apparently literally) not just a few hundred thousand dollars except remarkably $340 million.
